About me

I am a Secondary School English Literature and Language teacher in the UK, fresh from my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), and — before that — pretty much fresh from my English Literature degree.

This blog exists for the simple purpose of sharing ideas and resources for current and future teaching newbies. My aim is to write posts on matters that are universally applicable to all subject specialties, but my resources will be specific to English*: you would not want me creating any Mathematics resources.

Anyone can take inspiration from this site. Even if you’re a seasoned pedagogue and you’ve “seen it all before”, you may find my naivety refreshing. Seeing someone else’s content can consolidate your style, even if the resources end up going unused.

*None of the content should be taken as a finished product: a key to success in teaching — or, for that matter, any career sector — is adaptability. Therefore, it’s ninety percent likely you’ll need to change my resources to suit your classes. Factors to take into account before you project/print: is your class before or after lunch (danger zone); is your classroom cramped or spacious; how big is the class; is it the last day of term; is it windy outside (if so, there will inexplicably be a gale blowing in your students’ brains); how long is each lesson?
